The Director leads a comprehensive faculty-development program, partners with colleges, and advances evidence-based teaching, course design, and learning analytics to improve student outcomes. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education, higher education, instructional design, curriculum and instruction, learning sciences, or a related field and five years of related experience.
• Significant experience in faculty development, teaching and learning, instructional development, or related area in higher education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research and effective practices in college teaching, learning science, course design, and assessment.
• Experience developing and leading faculty-development programs or teaching-and-learning initiatives.
• Ability to establish productive relationships with faculty and academic leaders across disciplines.
• Experience leading organizational change, developing new programs, or redesigning academic-support operations.
• Experience assessing programs and using evidence to guide improvement and communicate impact.
• Supervising professional staff and managing programs, projects, and resources.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, consultation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Leads a comprehensive university-wide faculty-development strategy across consultations, learning communities, certificates, credentials, and initiatives.
• Advances evidence-based approaches to course design, assessment of student learning, accessible teaching practices, and online/hybrid pedagogy.
• Provides vision and strategic direction for CTL aligned with university goals and priorities.
• Establishes CTL as a trusted faculty-facing resource for teaching practice and supports modernization and alignment of services.
• Develops partnerships with colleges, departments, and units to support course and curriculum transformation.
• Collaborates with Distance Education and other partners to connect faculty development with course review, redesign, and assessment.
• Builds relationships with faculty across disciplines and appointment types.
• Develops communications and engagement strategies to raise CTL visibility and usage.
• Oversees assessment framework for CTL programs and produces annual impact reports.
• Recruits, supervises, and develops CTL staff; manages budget and resources.
• Represents CTL in university and national conversations on teaching excellence and student success.
