Position Summary

This position monitors the academic progress of assigned student athletes and reports to the Associate Athletic Director – Student-Athlete Development. Meets weekly with assigned student athletes. Records and maintains accurate documentation of student athlete degree progress. Supervise tutoring and Educational Assistant services for student athletes, which includes hiring, training, managing and evaluating tutoring staff. Manages time clock information for all student employees within academics. Assist in scheduling and managing front desk workers. Has lead supervision of the Hamilton Academic Excellence Room during business hours. Organizes and executes all book scholarship processes and procedures with student-athletes on book scholarship. Communicates regularly with the campus Bookstore to fill all required materials for students on book scholarship. Athletic department liaison for campus’ Academic Advising Council ( AAC ). Support and connect student athletes to resources with personal, social and behavioral problems that may be affecting his/ her educational situation. Assist in the facilitation of incoming student athlete orientation. Assists in Summit League and NCAA award nominations. Has full oversight in the planning and executing of the Maverick Awards with the help of SAAC . Updates academic and athletic awards in Hamilton. Manage academic/development interns within the Athletic Department (when applicable).

This position will also direct and lead the areas of student-athlete personal/professional growth, career development and personal leadership. Within these responsibilities, they will facilitate career exploration/experiences, as well as be the lead administrator for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee ( SAAC ) and Mav Leadership. They will identify and coordinate appropriate speakers and development events to positively impact the student-athlete experience. This position will also oversee and manage the tracking of community service efforts and organization for teams/students. Direct contact for HelperHelper for athletics and campus.

  • Monitors the academic eligibility and progress toward degree progress of assigned sports, including full time enrollment, % of degree, designation of majors/minors, class registration and all applicable NCAA bylaw 14 rules and regulations.
  • Provides academic support for assigned teams, following up on progress reports and grades, communicating with coaches, referring students to various campus support resources as needed in consultation with the Associate AD for Student-Athlete Development.
  • Assist in gathering academic information as it relates to APR and GSR , along with collecting information for semester academic snapshots.
  • Attend monthly AAC meetings.
  • Supervise the Hamilton Academic Excellence Room during business hours.
