Position Summary

This position monitors the academic progress of assigned studentathletes and reports to the Associate Athletic Director –Student-Athlete Development. Meets weekly with assigned studentathletes. Records and maintains accurate documentation of studentathlete degree progress. Supervise tutoring and EducationalAssistant services for student athletes, which includes hiring,training, managing and evaluating tutoring staff. Manages timeclock information for all student employees within academics. Assist in scheduling and managing front desk workers. Has leadsupervision of the Hamilton Academic Excellence Room duringbusiness hours. Organizes and executes all book scholarshipprocesses and procedures with student-athletes on book scholarship. Communicates regularly with the campus Bookstore to fill allrequired materials for students on book scholarship. Athleticdepartment liaison for campus’ Academic Advising Council ( AAC ).Support and connect student athletes to resources with personal,social and behavioral problems that may be affecting his/ hereducational situation. Assist in the facilitation of incomingstudent athlete orientation. Assists in Summit League and NCAAaward nominations. Has full oversight in the planning and executingof the Maverick Awards with the help of SAAC . Updates academic andathletic awards in Hamilton. Manage academic/development internswithin the Athletic Department (when applicable).

This position will also direct and lead the areas ofstudent-athlete personal/professional growth, career developmentand personal leadership. Within these responsibilities, they willfacilitate career exploration/experiences, as well as be the leadadministrator for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee ( SAAC )and Mav Leadership. They will identify and coordinate appropriatespeakers and development events to positively impact thestudent-athlete experience. This position will also oversee andmanage the tracking of community service efforts and organizationfor teams/students. Direct contact for HelperHelper for athleticsand campus.

Job Duties
Responsibility Area: Academics

Duties:

  • Monitors the academic eligibility and progress toward degreeprogress of assigned sports, including full time enrollment, % ofdegree, designation of majors/minors, class registration and allapplicable NCAA bylaw 14 rules and regulations.
  • Provides academic support for assigned teams, following up onprogress reports and grades, communicating with coaches, referringstudents to various campus support resources as needed inconsultation with the Associate AD for Student-AthleteDevelopment.
  • Assist in gathering academic information as it relates to APRand GSR, along with collecting information for semester academicsnapshots.
  • Attend monthly AAC meetings.
  • Supervise the Hamilton Academic Excellence Room during businesshours.

  • Assess student-athlete well-being and report findings to Sr.Associate Athletic Director.
  • Organize and coordinate personal and professional enrichmentopportunities for student-athletes.
  • Lead the ( SAAC ) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and MavLeadership.
  • Bring in presenters that help develop student-athletes’networking and job strategy skills.
  • Create a network of business leaders that help mentor UNO’sstudent-athletes.
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes about upcomingevents.

  • Supervise tutoring and Educational Assistant services forstudent athletes, which includes hiring, training, managing andevaluating tutoring staff.

  • Manage academic/development interns within the AthleticDepartment.
