Job summary

The City of East Point seeks a seasoned Solid Waste Management leader to direct and manage the department’s activities, ensuring efficient operations and regulatory compliance. You will supervise sanitation crews, develop work plans, and oversee budgeting and procurement to support city services.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and at least ten years in solid waste, including supervisory experience, with strong communication and safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in Solid Waste Management or related field; with at least five (5) years in a supervisory role.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and control the Solid Waste Management Department activities.
• Supervise sanitation workers; assign routes; conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental and transportation rules and regulations.
• Develop department work plans, goals and objectives; monitor progress and evaluate work.
• Prepare and manage department budget including expenditures and revenues.
• Represent the department in community meetings; respond to inquiries and complaints.
