Position: Director of Sales – Natural Gas

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of CEI, the Director of Sales leads a remote team of sales professionals to grow Commercial and Industrial sales in markets on the East Coast. The successful candidate will foster close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the sales organization’s efficient operation and success. The Director of Sales will support customer visits with the sales team or individually as applicable. They must be able to coach and mentor a virtual team to foster an environment of continual professional growth and development. The Director of Sales will lead the sales team to achieve annual volume and margin targets.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage natural gas sales activities, including people, processes, and performance.
  2. Build and maintain professional and profitable relationships with current and prospective customers.
  3. Drive organic growth by providing constructive sales feedback, leading by example, and fostering a customer-driven sense of urgency.
  4. Expand the company's presence in East Coast markets.
  5. Develop a cohesive 'One Team' culture through engagement with the remote organization responsible for sales territories.
  6. Manage the customer portfolio through review processes, forecasting, and performance analysis. Oversee sales processes from contract generation to implementation, and report on sales productivity and customer profitability.
  7. Implement and execute dynamic portfolio pricing and margin strategies.
  8. Engage directly with strategic customers and own the customer experience.
  9. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  10. Maintain ethical business practices and uphold the company's reputation.
  11. Partner with marketing to execute the marketing strategy aligned with Colonial Energy and Colonial Group.
  12. Represent the company at industry conferences and events.
  13. Implement CRM strategies and discipline.
  14. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Energy Management, or a related field; advanced degrees or industry certifications are a plus.
  • At least 5 years of successful experience in a sales leadership role, preferably in the natural gas industry.
  • Strong business and sales acumen.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, market-facing environment.
  • Experience with CRM systems required; Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams and work styles.
  • Strong skills in Excel; experience with PowerBI and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Experience with acquisition integration is a plus.
  • Ability to build and sustain a team-oriented, family-like organizational culture.
