Job summary

The University of Utah seeks a strategic leader for Research Security and Export Control to guide compliance, licensing, and program development. This role may serve as Empowered Official and will work across the university to secure research activities and ensure regulatory adherence.

Reporting within the VP for Research, this position emphasizes collaboration, policy development, and education, with a focus on complex regulatory oversight and secure research operations campus-wide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) + years of related work experience.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) + years of related work experience.
• Experience in research security/export control is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory compliance oversight of export control requirements.
• Review research proposals and technology transfer for export control issues.
• Prepare and assist with export license applications and related requests.
• Develop and deliver training on export control compliance to faculty and staff.
• Maintain documentation and support internal audits and investigations.

NSPM-33 compliance experience

Education
