Job summary

The University of Tampa seeks a Director of Prospect Research to lead the university’s prospect research function, delivering fundraising intelligence for portfolio management, donor engagement and campaign planning.

Reporting to Advancement leadership, the director identifies, analyzes, and qualifies prospective donors, preparing executive briefings and confidential reports while ensuring high confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3–5 years of experience in prospect research or related field; higher education preferred.
• Experience with CRM systems and prospect research resources such as Raiser’s Edge, ResearchPoint, iWave, DonorAtlas or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, research, writing, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with frontline fundraisers and Advancement leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop prospect research methodologies and best practices to support fundraising priorities.
• Lead identification and qualification to expand the pipeline of major and foundation prospects.
• Prepare confidential research reports, executive briefings, and briefing materials for leadership.
• Analyze capacity, inclination, institutional affinity, and other indicators of giving potential.
• Provide research support for campaign planning, donor engagement, and portfolio management decisions.
• Develop dashboards and reports monitoring portfolio health and fundraising performance.
• Collaborate with Advancement Services to maintain CRM integrity and data governance.
