Job summary

CPS, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Director of Pharmacy to lead all hospital pharmacy operations, align with clinical, quality, and financial goals, and drive safe, evidence-based medication use.

You will manage pharmacy leadership and staff, ensure regulatory compliance, oversee budgeting, purchasing, and cost-containment, and collaborate with executive leadership to advance patient care and system-wide performance.

Qualifications

• ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree required.
• Current Michigan Pharmacist license in good standing.
• Current MI Controlled Substance license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within a single hospital, aligning operations with the hospital's clinical, quality, and financial goals
• Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use, overseeing clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and formulary management
• Lead, develop, and hold accountability for pharmacy leadership and staff, including managers, pharmacists, technicians, and support teams
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, USP, BOP and state/federal laws
• Oversee pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and cost-containment initiatives
• Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders, supporting system-wide patient care, quality, and safety initiatives
• Drive innovation, performance improvement, and strategic growth, leveraging data, technology, and best practices to advance pharmacy services
