Job summary

CJGeo, a Virginia-based specialty contractor, seeks a Director of Operations to own logistics, inventory, fleet, DOT/safety compliance, vendor management, and HR. The role blends hands-on process design with leadership across field and office teams to keep crews running and projects on schedule.

You will map and improve critical workflows, implement scalable systems (Salesforce and related processes), and drive efficient handoffs between sales, preconstruction, construction, and Finance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years leading operations in a high-volume business.
• Built or rebuilt an operations function before, not just worked inside one that was already running well.
• Implemented systems and processes that people actually adopted, and kept improving them after launch.
• Strong people manager who works well with field crews to executives, with HR know-how to spot what isn't working.

Responsibilities

• Lead logistics and warehouse operations so materials reach job sites correctly and on time.
• Own physical inventory and a job-tied purchase order process, partnering with Finance on inventory accounting and reconciliation.
• Manage the fleet, including vehicles, fuel cards, leasing, registration, and maintenance, in partnership with our shop.
• Own DOT, driver qualification, and vehicle compliance program for roadside readiness.
• Run the safety program, certifications, and training with field supervisors.
• Map how work gets done, fix painful processes, and drive system ownership (Salesforce, job logs).
• Set tiered spending/approval guidelines and lead the team reporting to this role, including HR and recruiting.
