Wellness Director Position Summary:
The Wellness Director plays an integral role in upholding American House’s mission to enrich the lives of those we serve. The Wellness Director supervises all Wellness team members. This leadership position within the community also serves as manager on duty in the absence of the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Required Experience for Wellness Director:
- RN license; degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of management experience in healthcare or a service-related setting.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal licensing regulations and accreditation standards within areas of responsibility.
- Knowledge of physiological and psychological aspects related to gerontology.
Primary Responsibilities for Wellness Director:
- Ensure effective communication among Resident Assistants, Residents, and families.
- Serve as the primary liaison with Residents and their families.
- Oversee and supervise the Wellness Department to maintain high-quality service through ongoing delegation, supervision, and oversight.
- Build rapport among Wellness team members to promote teamwork.
- Recruit, select, and onboard new Wellness team members.
- Supervise all Health and Wellness staff, including training, performance management, coaching, motivation, and evaluation.
- Ensure all staff complete mandatory training and maintain licensure and certification compliance.
- Ensure staff adhere to safety regulations, including fire safety, infection control, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous waste, and quality assurance programs.
- Manage the Medication Aide program through supervision, delegation, training, and competency assessments.
- Report on Wellness Department operations to the Executive Director and Regional Director of Operations.
- Coordinate healthcare services with third-party providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Manage the Wellness Department budget.
- Verify all medical forms are completed and assess residents' care needs prior to move-in.
- Administer vaccinations to residents and staff as required by regulations.
- Oversee medication administration processes.
- Collaborate with residents' physicians to ensure high-quality care.
- Recommend budget, equipment, and supply needs to the Executive Director.
- Develop staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and accountability.
- Maintain sufficient supplies and equipment for daily operations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the role.
- Investigate complaints, grievances, and incidents, and work with the Executive Director on corrective actions.
