Job description

Work Location: This is remote, in Texas. The manager prefers candidates near Austin or San Antonio, but is open to Dallas/Fort Worth. Candidates in NM are also considered if necessary.

Contract Duration: 2025-05-19 to 2025-12-31

Description:

The position involves 100% clinical queue work staffed exclusively by behavioral health clinicians. They make clinical decisions to approve treatment requests or send cases for peer review. Clinicians handle incoming provider calls for authorization and assist members in crisis situations routed to the queue.

• If RN with BH experience, must have MCO UM experience and direct care background.
• This role is telecommute on a full-time basis within NM, TX, OK, MT, and IL.
• Must be licensed to practice independently in the state of operation. The required clinical experience is post-licensure at the independent level, measured in years.

Job Summary:

Responsible for accurate and timely clinical review of behavioral health cases for medical necessity, including assisting members via telephone, reviewing medical records, and interpreting behavioral health diagnoses against medical necessity criteria across various levels of care.

Job Requirements:

• Masters-level Behavioral Health Professional (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LCPC, RPsy) with current independent license OR Registered Nurse (RN) with Behavioral Health experience.
• Active clinical license in the state of operation with good standing.
• At least 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in psychiatric settings or behavioral health practice.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency with PC and database tools.
