Job summary

Simpson University in Redding, CA is seeking a Director of Library Services to serve as the chief administrative officer of the library, providing vision and leadership in integrating information technologies and expanding the library's role as a Learning Commons.

The director will oversee all library operations, participate in faculty governance, manage the library budget, and develop collections with emphasis on electronic resources to support teaching and learning.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited graduate degree in library and information science required.
• Five years of professional experience in academic librarianship.
• Three years of management/supervisory experience.
• Understanding of Integrated Library Systems (ILS).
• Experience with electronic resources and licensing including consortium agreements.
• Experience with assessment and accreditation standards for libraries.
• Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff and administration.
• Strong commitment to the university’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the chief administrative officer of the library.
• Provide visionary leadership for library operations aligning services with institutional needs.
• Participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Oversee collection development with emphasis on electronic resources.
• Develop and manage the library budget.
