Job summary

Bluegrass Community & Technical College seeks a Director of Library Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for library services, ensuring responsive, student-centered support for teaching, learning, and research.

The Director will supervise personnel, manage resources and budgets, and advance information literacy initiatives while maintaining an active presence in the library as a practicing librarian.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• At least three years of professional library experience and two years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads strategic planning and continuous innovation in library services.
• Supervises all library personnel; oversees staffing, professional development and service coverage.
• Losters as liaison between library and college leadership; aligns with institutional priorities.
• Delivers information literacy instruction through courses, workshops, and individual support.
• Oversees acquisition, cataloging, and circulation of library resources per standards.
• Develops and manages the library budget within approved parameters.
• Leads collection development in collaboration with faculty and staff.
