Job summary

Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff seeks a Director of Knowledge Management in New York. You will own the full KM lifecycle, driving an AI-enabled function that surfaces institutional expertise within practice workflows.

Lead cross-functional teams and report to senior leadership to align KM with client outcomes. The role requires at least eight years in legal KM, a JD preferred, and strong collaboration with Practice Groups, IT, Risk, and Marketing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD strongly preferred with eight+ years in legal knowledge management.
• Ability to launch, scale and govern a knowledge management function in a law firm.
• Practical fluency with document management systems (iManage/NetDocuments) and enterprise search.
• Experience translating client requirements into KM priorities across multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead evolution of KM from repository approach to an AI-enabled, workflow-embedded function.
• Partner with Practice Groups to identify knowledge gaps and govern curation lifecycle.
• Collaborate with IT, Risk, and Marketing to align KM initiatives with innovation goals.
• Drive adoption, define metrics, and report outcomes tied to client service impact.
