Director of Infrastructure Remote | $175,000-$190,000 Base + 20%
Search Partner Group is partnering with a rapidly growing, private equity-backed organization to identify a Director of Infrastructure to lead the modernization of its enterprise technology environment. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity with a large, multi-site organization undergoing significant growth and technology transformation. The company is moving away from a traditional on-premise/data center model toward a more modern, cloud-oriented and distributed infrastructure strategy while continuing to expand through acquisitions. The Director of Infrastructure will have responsibility for enterprise infrastructure, networking, connectivity, Microsoft technologies, endpoint management and Service Desk operations. The role will lead an established infrastructure organization with 1 direct report, the Manager of Infrastructure, and approximately 10 indirect reports. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure leader who wants to take ownership of a complex environment, help define its future cloud strategy and play an important role in the organization’s continued growth.
8+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience with meaningful management and leadership responsibility.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following will be particularly attractive:
You don't necessarily need to already be a Director to be successful in this role. A high-performing Infrastructure Manager, Senior Infrastructure Manager or similar technology leader who has led enterprise-scale infrastructure, cloud transformation and distributed technical teams could be an excellent fit. The successful candidate will inherit an established organization with a Manager of Infrastructure as their direct report and approximately 10 indirect reports, allowing the Director to focus on leadership, strategy and transformation rather than functioning as the organization's primary hands-on engineer. For the right individual, this opportunity also provides the visibility and breadth of responsibility to continue developing toward broader IT leadership opportunities.
This isn't simply an opportunity to maintain an established infrastructure environment. The organization is growing while simultaneously modernizing its technology platform, reassessing its reliance on traditional data centers, expanding its use of cloud technologies and evolving the way infrastructure supports a distributed business.
The Director of Infrastructure will have an opportunity to help answer important strategic questions: What belongs in the cloud? What should remain on-premise or in a private-cloud environment? How can the organization simplify and modernize its infrastructure? How should networking and connectivity evolve to support distributed operations? Where can vendor and data center costs be reduced without compromising reliability or security? How can newly acquired operations be integrated efficiently and consistently? The person selected will have a meaningful opportunity to shape the next generation of the organization's infrastructure, not simply inherit it.
