Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Infrastructure and Platform based in the United States. The Director, Infrastructure and Platform will lead the strategy, development, and operation of secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure and software delivery platforms. This senior leadership role combines people management, technical strategy, and operational excellence to empower software engineering teams to build, test, and deliver high-quality solutions efficiently. You will establish a standardized platform ecosystem, define a clear technology roadmap, and drive the adoption of automated, secure, and repeatable delivery processes. Working across multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams, you will strengthen governance, improve performance, and ensure alignment with business priorities. Your leadership will help eliminate operational bottlenecks, reduce complexity, and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost outcomes. This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced leader who can transform infrastructure into a strategic product and foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and develop teams responsible for infrastructure, digital operations, networks, end-user support, shared services, and software delivery platforms.
  • Define and execute the infrastructure and platform roadmap, establishing standardized, secure, and scalable environments that support software development, testing, and deployment.
  • Manage the platform as a product by defining service standards, promoting adoption of a standardized delivery pipeline, and ensuring consistent, reliable services for engineering teams.
  • Establish operational governance frameworks, including key performance indicators, milestones, reporting cadences, and integrated delivery plans, to monitor progress and ensure commitments are met.
  • Improve operational processes, policies, information flows, management reporting, and organizational planning to increase efficiency and support business objectives.
  • Promote compliance with applicable IT standards and regulations, including SOX and ISO requirements, while minimizing exceptions and implementing streamlined or automated solutions.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, resolve complex technical and organizational challenges, conduct root cause analyses, and implement preventive controls to reduce recurring issues.
  • Manage escalations involving internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication of progress, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean principles and a strong focus on flow, standard work, measurable outcomes, and the elimination of unnecessary infrastructure work across software teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, respectful, and innovative culture while coaching team members, strengthening leadership capabilities, and supporting professional growth.
  • Align platform operations and resource allocation with business priorities, balancing performance, availability, scalability, quality, delivery commitments, and cost.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in people leadership, with a demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate technical teams in complex environments.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent academic background in computer science or a STEM discipline (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
  • Strong technical understanding of infrastructure architecture, performance, availability, scalability, and the design of reliable enterprise platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies, supported by professional experience, training, or active engagement with the technology industry.
  • Experience managing technical operations and products across complex ecosystems, making informed trade-offs based on business priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles; Green Belt certification or equivalent knowledge is an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen, financial awareness, analytical thinking, and structured problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess ambiguous situations and make sound decisions with incomplete information.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence complex, global, matrixed organizations and coordinate multidisciplinary teams toward shared goals.
  • Experience establishing performance objectives, providing constructive feedback, mentoring employees, and developing talent to improve team performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical and operational information clearly and confidently to senior leadership.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and strategic planning capabilities, with the ability to translate long-term objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and removing obstacles, managing competing priorities, and delivering results under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • U.S. Person eligibility: Because the role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable regulations. Eligible categories include U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted asylee or refugee status, as defined by U.S. law.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation aligned with the scope and seniority of the role.
  • Fully remote work arrangement within the United States, offering flexibility in how and where work is performed.
  • A challenging leadership opportunity with significant influence over infrastructure strategy, platform engineering, and software delivery operations.
  • Opportunities for professional development, continuous learning, and career advancement.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment that values respect, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • The opportunity to lead and develop talented technical teams while contributing to impactful engineering and technology initiatives.
  • No relocation assistance is provided for this position.
  • Equal employment opportunity, with employment decisions made without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics.
