CareerWise is a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization that creates life-changing opportunities for the youngest generation of America’s workforce. We build industry-led, student-centered, modern youth apprenticeships through classroom and on-the-job learning, providing flexible, alternative pathways to economic mobility. We have hundreds of CareerWise apprentices in the workplace, charting new paths to academic and career success. Our programs have launched in multiple states, leveraging our institutional knowledge, technology, and infrastructure, with workforce and education leaders from across the country visiting to learn about our youth apprenticeship model.

We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to oversee all HR functions at CareerWise, strategically creating policies and practices that support employee growth and development. Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and People Operations, the Director of Human Resources will provide leadership and strategic direction for all HR functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This role will serve as a consultant to leadership on HR needs and partner across the organization to deliver value-added services to staff.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. HR Thought Partnership: Develop policies, procedures, and standards compliant with laws, offering insights and strategies to align HR practices with best standards. Communicate change and organizational growth initiatives with the executive team.
  2. Coach & Guide: Provide guidance and coaching to leaders, enhance staff skills, and lead training on HR policies and processes. Refer staff to resources, policies, and laws as needed.
  3. Advocate & Liaison: Act as a trusted advocate for staff, helping articulate questions, ideas, concerns, and process improvements while providing avenues for knowledge sharing.
  4. Strategic Hiring: Collaborate with ELT to develop staffing plans, define roles, and recommend compensation strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  5. Inclusion: Build relationships across the organization to identify opportunities for collaboration, professional development, staff gatherings, and stakeholder events.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Proficiencies

  • Minimum 10 years of professional HR experience
  • Experience with HRIS, Payroll, ATS, and engagement platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Understanding of the youth apprenticeship movement

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may evolve with the organization. All employees may perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Location:

Candidates must reside in/near Denver, CO, or New York, NY. Hybrid work schedule with some in-office days; remote work is not guaranteed and must be approved. Occasional in-person gatherings may occur.

Compensation

Salary range: $84,400 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience and location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, 401(k) with employer contribution, and flexible time off.
