Job summary

Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is seeking a Director, Foundations & Grants to lead a multimillion-dollar foundation and government grants portfolio. You will translate program impact into compelling, data-backed narratives and build a diverse, multi-year pipeline with major funders.

Collaborating with the SVP of Programs and cross-functional teams, you will oversee proposal development, reporting, and compliance while mentoring the Development Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of nonprofit development experience with five- and six-figure grants.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Exceptional grant writing and editing skills to translate program impact into clear, data-backed narratives.
• Dynamic presentation skills reflecting PHA’s values and mission in context with programs.
• Experience building and managing a diversified institutional funding pipeline and long-term funder relationships.
• Working knowledge of grants management, reporting, and expenditure tracking.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
• Collaborative working style across programs, finance, marketing & communications, evaluation, and leadership.
• Experience supervising staff and CRM usage (Salesforce preferred).

Responsibilities

• Own and grow PHA's foundation and government grants portfolio, targeting $3M+ revenue across the full lifecycle.
• Develop and execute a year-round grants strategy diversifying institutional funding and building a multi-year pipeline.
• Write, edit, and manage grant proposals, LOIs, and funder reports translating impact into a case for support.
• Build relationships and manage a portfolio of funders including seven-figure partners with executive sponsor involvement.
• Coordinate with SVP of Programs to align proposals with program design and outcomes.
• Collaborate with Impact & Evaluation to secure data, outcomes, and case studies for proposals and reports.
• Partner with Marketing & Communications to create compelling development materials.
• Oversee grants management and compliance, ensuring timely reporting and expenditure tracking with Finance.
• Supervise Development Coordinator and CRM management (Salesforce).
• Maintain an actionable pipeline and leadership-facing reporting rhythm.
• Represent PHA with funders, partners, the Board, and at sector events.
