Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) seeks a Director of Facilities to lead the Facilities Department across 28 locations. The role focuses on strategic direction, compliance, budgeting, and capital projects to support growth and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of facilities leadership, experience with multi-site campuses, and strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and building automation systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
• 8–10 years of progressively responsible facilities leadership experience.
• Experience leading large multi-site operations with multi-million budgets.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, ADA, environmental regulations, and building codes.
• Experience managing capital improvements & preventive maintenance programs.
• Proven leadership and ability to develop high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for facilities, maintenance, engineering, custodial, and operations teams.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and improvements across multiple facilities to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Lead capital projects, renovations, and infrastructure investments within budget.
• Direct vendor procurement, contract negotiations, and ongoing performance management.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, ADA, fire/life safety).
• Develop emergency preparedness, business continuity, and crisis plans.
• Partner with Finance, HR, IT, Security, and program leadership to improve operational effectiveness.
• Develop facilities budgets, monitor expenditures, and analyze metrics to reduce long-term costs.
• Implement standards, policies, procedures, and performance metrics for consistency.
• Serve as trusted advisor to executive leadership on facilities planning and risk.
