Job summary

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) seeks a Managing Director to oversee its Promise Academy Afterschool and HCZ Athletics programs across three sites, directing a team of 200+ staff and serving 2,000+ scholars annually. The role emphasizes safety, program quality, and cradle-to-career readiness within a data-driven framework.

The candidate will partner with senior leadership to execute HCZ’s strategic plan, mentor senior program directors, and advocate for HCZ’s mission in diverse, underserved NYC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with management experience.
• 8–10 years in youth development, education, after-school programming, nonprofit management, or related field.
• 3+ years leading managers and/or multiple programs/sites.
• Strong budgeting and financial stewardship experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for Promise Academy Afterschool and HCZ Athletics across three sites.
• Oversee 200+ staff and more than 2,000 scholars annually.
• Ensure safety, program quality, and outcomes; establish performance standards and systems.
• Embed cradle-to-career readiness and data-driven design across offerings.
• Develop talent and foster cross-site collaboration and accountability.
