Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Director of Engineering for Care to own the engineering strategy and delivery for clinician and patient experiences. You will lead the team behind intake, consultation, prescribing, and care tooling with a focus on safety, security, and scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering and 5+ years managing managers or multiple teams.
• Experience building and operating systems with regulated health data (HIPAA).
• Proven record leading cross-functional product engineering teams.
• Strong executive communication and collaboration with product, design, data, clinical, and operations.
• Ability to define roadmaps aligned to product vision and business outcomes.
• Experience integrating health and pharmacy systems and ensuring patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Own technical vision, architecture, and delivery for Care.
• Define and deliver the engineering roadmap with product and design.
• Lead API-first architecture and published events across services.
• Ensure patient safety, security, and HIPAA compliance.
• Set reliability standards and manage incident response.
• Drive AI-first engineering culture with measurable goals.
• Mentor engineering managers and build a strong technical bench.
• Staff and structure teams; plan headcount and growth.
• Represent engineering to executives and stakeholders.
