Job summary

The Japanese American Service Committee (JASC) in Chicago is seeking a Director of Development to provide strategic leadership for fundraising, donor engagement, and development communications. You will report to the CEO and Board and drive annual fundraising strategies to support the organization's mission.

You will lead major gifts, institutional giving, corporate partnerships, planned giving, special events, donor stewardship, and development operations, fostering a culture of philanthropy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree, CFRE, or equivalent professional fundraising credentials preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
• At least 3 years of leadership or management experience.
• Demonstrated success securing major gifts and managing relationships with donors.
• Experience developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
• Experience partnering with executive leadership and volunteer boards.
• Familiarity with Chicago-area philanthropy and local travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for fundraising, donor engagement, and development communications.
• Develop annual fundraising goals, strategies, budgets, and performance metrics with the CEO and Board.
• Lead major gifts, institutional giving, corporate partnerships, planned giving, and donor stewardship.
• Oversee development operations, gift processing, and data management.
• Collaborate with external consultants and campaign counsel as needed.
• Staff and support development team, boards, and committees; monitor fundraising results.
