Aspire Hoover is seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services (DON) to lead the nursing department and drive high-quality patient care. This executive role involves partnering with the Executive Director and interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance and robust nursing operations.

The leader will recruit, mentor, and retain staff, establish clinical standards, and build a culture of accountability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama in good standing.
• Strong nursing leadership and clinical management experience.
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop nursing teams.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of clinical documentation and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily nursing department operations.
• Establish and maintain high standards of clinical care and patient safety.
• Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain nursing leaders and frontline staff.
• Provide leadership to the ADON, Unit Managers, Charge Nurses, CNAs, and other clinical team members.
• Conduct clinical rounds and maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the facility.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and ensure appropriate clinical follow-up.
• Oversee nursing documentation and clinical record compliance.
• Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Oversee infection prevention and clinical compliance efforts.
• Monitor staffing, scheduling, and nursing department performance.
• Identify clinical trends and implement corrective action when necessary.
• Lead survey readiness and support successful regulatory outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families.
• Develop staff through education, coaching, accountability, and recognition.
• Promote a culture where excellent care and strong teamwork are the expectation.

Position Overview

The Director of Clinical Services provides leadership and direction for all nursing services within the facility.

You'll partner closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director of Clinical Services, physicians, therapy, pharmacy, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure patients receive exceptional clinical care while maintaining regulatory compliance and strong nursing operations.

Most importantly, you'll build and lead a nursing team capable of delivering that standard consistently.

• Experienced ADONs with demonstrated success and readiness for advancement are encouraged to apply
• Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long–term care leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of federal and state long–term care regulations
• Experience with survey readiness, quality improvement, infection prevention, staffing, and clinical operations
