Job summary

GenSystems Power Solutions is seeking a Business Development Director to originate and develop commercial opportunities within hyperscale, AI, colocation, and mission-critical data center markets.

Based at our Houston JFK office, you will identify customers and projects needing scalable power generation, bridge power, distributed generation, battery energy storage, microgrids, or increased electrical capacity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, business, construction management, economics, or related field.
  • Ten or more years of business development, technical sales, strategic accounts, project development, power, energy, infrastructure, or data center experience.
  • Demonstrated success originating and advancing complex, high-value commercial opportunities.
  • Experience selling engineered, technical, equipment-based, infrastructure, or project-based solutions.
  • Experience developing relationships across technical, procurement, commercial, operational, financial, and executive functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new business with hyperscale, AI infrastructure, colocation, cloud, and mission-critical data center customers.
  • Identify data center projects affected by utility delays, limited grid capacity, accelerated development schedules, or increased resiliency requirements.
  • Originate opportunities involving gas turbine generation, bridge power, distributed generation, behind-the-meter power, BESS, and microgrids.
  • Build executive relationships with customer leaders responsible for energy, power, infrastructure, development, engineering, procurement, construction, and operations.
  • Conduct account and organizational mapping to identify decision-makers, active projects, and commercial entry points.
  • Lead customer discovery meetings, executive presentations, technical-commercial discussions, proposals, pricing activity, and negotiations.

GenSystems Power Solutions is seeking a Business Development Director to originate and develop commercial opportunities within the hyperscale, artificial intelligence, colocation, and mission-critical data center markets.

Based at our Houston JFK office, this position will identify customers and projects requiring scalable power generation, bridge power, distributed generation, battery energy storage, microgrid solutions, increased resiliency, or additional electrical capacity.

The Business Development Director will build relationships with hyperscalers, AI platforms, colocation providers, data center developers, utilities, EPCs, engineering firms, energy providers, and infrastructure partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business with hyperscale, AI infrastructure, colocation, cloud, and mission-critical data center customers.
  • Identify data center projects affected by utility delays, limited grid capacity, accelerated development schedules, or increased resiliency requirements.
  • Originate opportunities involving gas turbine generation, bridge power, distributed generation, behind-the-meter power, BESS, and microgrids.
  • Build executive relationships with customer leaders responsible for energy, power, infrastructure, development, engineering, procurement, construction, and operations.
  • Conduct account and organizational mapping to identify decision-makers, active projects, and commercial entry points.
  • Lead customer discovery meetings, executive presentations, technical-commercial discussions, proposals, pricing activity, and negotiations.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, operations, finance, legal, supply chain, and executive leadership.
  • Develop relationships with utilities, developers, EPCs, engineering firms, fuel providers, integrators, and strategic partners.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline stages, forecasts, account plans, and customer follow-up.
  • Manage opportunities from initial identification through qualification, proposal, negotiation, award, and commercial handoff.
  • Provide leadership with customer intelligence, competitive activity, market trends, and pipeline updates.
  • Represent GenSystems at data center, energy, utility, power-generation, and infrastructure events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, business, construction management, economics, or a related field.
  • Ten or more years of business development, technical sales, strategic accounts, project development, power, energy, infrastructure, or data center experience.
  • Demonstrated success originating and advancing complex, high-value commercial opportunities.
  • Experience selling engineered, technical, equipment-based, infrastructure, or project-based solutions.
  • Experience developing relationships across technical, procurement, commercial, operational, financial, and executive functions.
  • Working knowledge of power generation, utilities, distributed energy, electrical infrastructure, data center development, or large-load projects.
  • Experience with proposals, pricing coordination, negotiations, CRM management, forecasting, and customer follow-up.
  • Strong executive presentation, relationship-development, prospecting, negotiation, and pipeline-management skills.
  • Ability to work onsite from the Houston office.
  • Ability to travel throughout Texas and nationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with hyperscalers, AI infrastructure companies, colocation providers, data center developers, utilities, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Existing relationships within data center energy, infrastructure, development, utility, engineering, procurement, or operations organizations.
  • Experience with gas turbines, temporary generation, bridge power, distributed generation, microgrids, BESS, or utility interconnection.
  • Knowledge of substations, transformers, switchgear, electrical distribution, or related power infrastructure.
  • Experience developing data center campuses, energy campuses, or large-load infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with utilities, independent power producers, EPCs, developers, fuel providers, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Existing network within the Texas energy, power-generation, engineering, utility, or data center markets.
  • Experience negotiating energy agreements, infrastructure contracts, equipment agreements, or strategic partnerships.
