Job description

GenSystems Power Solutions is seeking an Account Director, Data Center Power Solutions to develop and manage strategic relationships with hyperscale cloud providers, artificial intelligence infrastructure companies, colocation operators, data center developers, utilities, EPC and EPCM firms, mission-critical contractors, engineering organizations, and energy partners.

The Account Director will own a defined portfolio of high-value accounts and serve as the primary commercial relationship leader for those customers.

The position will focus on understanding each customer’s infrastructure roadmap, campus-development schedule, electrical demand, utility limitations, resiliency requirements, energy strategy, engineering process, procurement structure, construction schedule, and long-term expansion plans.

This is a power and physical infrastructure account-leadership position. It is not a software, cloud application, coding, cybersecurity, or traditional information technology sales role.

The Account Director will position GenSystems’ gas turbine and distributed power solutions for customers requiring bridge power, additional generation capacity, increased resiliency, accelerated deployment, or support during utility interconnection delays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage relationships with assigned hyperscale, AI, cloud, colocation, data center developer, utility, and energy-infrastructure accounts.
  • Serve as the primary commercial relationship owner for assigned strategic accounts.
  • Develop relationships with the EPC, EPCM, engineering, design-build, electrical construction, and commissioning partners supporting assigned customers.
  • Develop account plans covering current facilities, planned campuses, expansion schedules, power requirements, project partners, procurement structures, decision-makers, and competitive risks.
  • Map customer and project organizations across energy, power, infrastructure, site selection, real estate, engineering, construction, procurement, operations, sustainability, finance, and executive teams.
  • Identify opportunities involving campus development, utility delays, insufficient grid capacity, temporary generation, bridge power, distributed generation, BESS, microgrids, and resiliency.
  • Position GenSystems as a long-term strategic power partner rather than a single-project equipment supplier.
  • Establish relationships early in the project lifecycle, including feasibility, basis-of-design, utility coordination, equipment evaluation, procurement planning, and construction scheduling.
  • Coordinate customer meetings, technical workshops, site evaluations, EPC discussions, proposal reviews, and executive presentations.
  • Work with GenSystems engineering and operations teams to develop solutions aligned with customer capacity, redundancy, fuel, emissions, footprint, reliability, commissioning, and deployment requirements.
  • Support equipment specification, vendor qualification, technical submittals, procurement schedules, and project-interface requirements.
  • Lead requests for information, requests for proposals, supplier registration, commercial reviews, pricing discussions, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop multi-campus and enterprise account opportunities across multiple projects, regions, and customer business units.
  • Maintain accurate account plans, customer activity, opportunity stages, pipeline values, forecasts, project partners, commercial documentation, and contract status.
  • Coordinate resolution of customer concerns involving commercial, technical, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, scheduling, service, or operational matters.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers and project partners regarding development status, equipment availability, procurement milestones, construction schedules, commercial requirements, and future power needs.
  • Provide customer, project, EPC, and market intelligence to leadership, engineering, operations, project management, and product-development teams.
  • Represent GenSystems at customer meetings, project workshops, EPC forums, technology conferences, and data center industry events.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, business, technology, construction management, real estate, or a related discipline.
  • Eight or more years of strategic account management, enterprise sales, client development, business development, energy, infrastructure, construction, or data center experience.
  • Experience working with hyperscale technology companies, AI infrastructure companies, colocation providers, utilities, data center developers, EPC firms, or mission‑critical infrastructure customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships across large customer and project organizations.
  • Experience working with technical, procurement, engineering, construction, operational, financial, legal, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience managing complex proposals, strategic account plans, commercial negotiations, forecasts, and long‑cycle project pursuits.
  • Working knowledge of power generation, electrical infrastructure, data center development, utility interconnection, distributed energy, engineering, procurement or construction.
  • Experience coordinating customer requirements with engineering, EPC, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Strong customer-presentation, relationship-management, negotiation, organizational, and problem-resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain a regular onsite presence in Santa Clara.
  • Ability to travel throughout the West Coast and nationally as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Direct experience within a hyperscale cloud provider, AI infrastructure company, data center developer, utility, EPC or EPCM firm, mission‑critical contractor, or energy provider.
  • Existing relationships within hyperscale data center energy, infrastructure, engineering, development, real estate, utility, procurement, or construction teams.
  • Experience managing strategic accounts involving multiple data center campuses, markets, project partners, or business units.
  • Experience with mobile gas turbines, distributed generation, bridge power, microgrids, battery energy storage, transformers, switchgear, substations, or electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience with utility coordination, power procurement, site development, land acquisition, energy strategy, preconstruction, equipment procurement, commissioning, or data center construction.
  • Experience developing repeat business through EPC, design‑build, engineering, or mission‑critical construction relationships.
  • Familiarity with the Silicon Valley technology, energy, construction, and infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Experience developing enterprise agreements, equipment agreements, strategic partnerships, or long‑term infrastructure relationships.
