Job description

GenSystems Power Solutions is seeking a Vice President, Data Center Power Solutions to establish and lead the company’s West Coast commercial presence from its new Santa Clara location.

This executive will develop strategic relationships with hyperscale cloud providers, artificial intelligence companies, colocation operators, data center developers, utilities, independent power producers, EPC and EPCM firms, engineering companies, mission-critical contractors, electrical infrastructure providers, and energy partners.

The position is focused on the power and physical infrastructure required to support AI, GPU-driven computing, cloud services, and large-scale data center development. This is not an information technology, software development, cloud application, or coding position.

The Vice President will lead the West Coast market-entry strategy, create executive access within priority accounts, originate major power opportunities, establish strategic industry partnerships, and build the Santa Clara commercial organization.

GenSystems provides scalable gas turbine and distributed power solutions for customers facing utility interconnection delays, grid-capacity constraints, accelerated construction schedules, temporary power requirements, resiliency needs, and rapidly increasing electrical demand.

The role will engage customers and project partners from early site evaluation and basis-of-design development through equipment selection, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and lead GenSystems’ West Coast data center commercial operation.
  • Develop and execute the regional market-entry, account-development, strategic-partnership, and revenue-growth strategy.
  • Build executive relationships with hyperscalers, AI platforms, cloud providers, colocation operators, data center developers, utilities, independent power producers, and energy-campus developers.
  • Develop strategic relationships with EPC, EPCM, design-build, mission-critical construction, electrical contracting, engineering, procurement, and commissioning organizations.
  • Position GenSystems with project teams during site selection, feasibility, power strategy, basis-of-design development, equipment evaluation, procurement, construction planning, and commissioning.
  • Develop relationships with customer leaders responsible for energy, power procurement, infrastructure, site selection, engineering, construction, real estate, operations, sustainability, and vendor management.
  • Originate large-scale opportunities involving mobile gas turbine generation, bridge power, behind-the-meter power, distributed generation, microgrids, battery energy storage, and resiliency.
  • Identify projects affected by utility delays, grid-capacity limitations, equipment lead times, construction schedules, or accelerated data center deployment requirements.
  • Conduct organizational mapping within priority accounts and project ecosystems to identify decision-makers, influencers, engineering partners, EPC firms, procurement teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of West Coast data center power opportunities.
  • Lead executive customer meetings, technical-commercial workshops, strategic partnerships, proposals, commercial structures, and contract negotiations.
  • Translate customer power requirements, reliability criteria, utility constraints, development schedules, site limitations, fuel requirements, and construction risks into executable commercial opportunities.
  • Coordinate with GenSystems engineering, applications, project management, operations, finance, legal, supply chain, manufacturing, and executive leadership.
  • Develop relationships with utilities, natural gas providers, developers, landowners, equipment suppliers, financial partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Establish channel and project-development relationships with EPC and mission-critical firms that influence equipment specifications, project schedules, procurement decisions, and customer access.
  • Recruit, build, and lead the Santa Clara-based commercial organization as business activity develops.
  • Establish account ownership, performance expectations, pipeline standards, forecasting procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide executive leadership with pipeline updates, market intelligence, customer feedback, competitive analysis, partnership opportunities, and investment recommendations.
  • Represent GenSystems at hyperscale, AI, data center, utility, power-generation, EPC, construction, and energy-industry events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, business, economics, construction management, real estate, or a related discipline.
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in data centers, energy, utilities, power generation, infrastructure development, strategic accounts, project development, or business development.
  • Senior leadership experience within a hyperscaler, data center developer, utility, independent power producer, energy company, EPC or EPCM firm, mission-critical contractor, equipment provider, or infrastructure organization.
  • Direct experience with data center power, energy strategy, infrastructure development, utility coordination, site selection, real estate development, engineering, construction, power procurement, or vendor management.
  • Demonstrated success developing and advancing complex, high-value, long-cycle infrastructure opportunities.
  • Established relationships within the hyperscale, AI, cloud, utility, data center, EPC, construction, or power-generation market.
  • Experience developing customer opportunities through both direct account relationships and project-partner channels.
  • Experience leading executive customer discussions and commercial negotiations involving technical, operational, legal, financial, engineering, construction, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Experience with project development from feasibility and basis of design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation.
  • Experience building a business unit, team, regional office, new market, or commercial organization.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, pipeline management, forecasting, and executive presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with hyperscaler executives, engineers, utilities, developers, EPC firms, procurement teams, contractors, and infrastructure professionals.
  • Ability to maintain a regular onsite presence in Santa Clara.
  • Ability to travel throughout the West Coast, nationally, and internationally as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Direct experience within Google, Meta, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, xAI, Alibaba, Oracle, or another hyperscale or AI infrastructure organization.
  • Experience within a hyperscaler’s data center energy, infrastructure, site-development, utility, real estate, engineering, construction, procurement, or vendor-management organization.
  • Leadership experience with an EPC, EPCM, design-build, mission-critical construction, or electrical infrastructure firm serving hyperscale customers.
  • Existing executive relationships with hyperscale, AI, cloud, utility, EPC, data center development, and infrastructure decision-makers.
  • Experience developing large-scale data center campuses, energy campuses, substations, utility infrastructure, or other large-load projects.
  • Experience integrating land, utility interconnection, generation, fuel supply, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational requirements into a complete development strategy.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine generation, distributed generation, bridge power, microgrids, battery energy storage, solid-state transformers, substations, transformers, switchgear, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience negotiating utility agreements, EPC agreements, equipment contracts, energy agreements, development agreements, power purchase agreements, or strategic partnerships.
  • Experience managing equipment lead-time risk, construction schedules, vendor performance, commissioning requirements, and project handoffs.
  • Graduate degree in business, engineering, energy, finance, construction, or technology.
