Job summary

BILL, a rapidly growing fintech company, seeks a Director of Developer Experience and Infrastructure Platform to lead the engineering organization responsible for developer tooling, platform automation, and service infrastructure across 250+ services.

You will set technical direction for developer tooling and platform, drive change management, and lead an AI-native developer experience strategy to accelerate the SDLC.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering or infra, with 5+ years leading platform teams.
• Experience scaling AI-assisted development tools across 300+ engineers.
• Proven ability to drive engineering standards and platform migrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy and roadmap for BILL's AI-augmented developer platform across developer tooling and service platform.
• Drive company-wide change management to standardize engineering practices and guardrails.
• Lead, grow, and develop engineers and engineering managers to restore stability and direction after org changes.
• Scale developer experience by embedding coding assistants and optimizing knowledge base context.
• Own local development environments and fast feedback loops for multi-service architectures.
• Collaborate with CTO, product, and engineering managers to align platform investments with strategy.
• Define metrics for developer experience, deployment frequency, reliability, and AI adoption.
• Represent the developer platform org in executive conversations and translate tech into business impact.
