Job summary

BILL is hiring a Director of Developer Experience and Infrastructure Platform to lead the engineering organization that underpins hundreds of services. You will own tooling strategy, platform reliability, and AI-driven developer tools to accelerate the SDLC across the company.

You will work with the CTO, architects, and product teams to standardize practices, drive organizational change, and scale a high-performing engineering culture focused on security and speed.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure with leadership at Director level or equivalent.
• Proven track record implementing, scaling AI-assisted development tools across a large engineering organization.
• Experience leading organizational change to standardize tooling and platforms at scale.
• Deep technical and strategic mastery of modern DevOps practices in cloud environments.
• Strong executive communication to present platform strategy to CTO/board-level audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy and roadmap for BILL's developer tooling and service platform across core pillars.
• Drive change management to standardize engineering practices and tooling.
• Lead, grow, and develop engineers and managers; restore stability after org changes.
• Scale developer experience by embedding coding assistants and automating refactoring workflows.
• Optimize local development environments and deployment pipelines for fast feedback loops.
• Collaborate with CTO, product, and architects to align platform investments with company strategy.
• Define and track metrics for developer satisfaction, deployment frequency, and reliability.
