Job summary

BILL is seeking a Director of Developer Experience and Infrastructure Platform to lead the engineering organization that defines how hundreds of services are built, deployed, and operated across the company.

You will drive an AI‑native developer experience strategy, standardize tooling, and guide migrations while collaborating with the CTO and product teams to align platform investments with BILL’s overarching strategy. This remote‑eligible role includes offices in San Jose, CA, and Draper, UT.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering or infrastructure experience.
• At least 5 years leading platform, DevX, or infrastructure teams at director level.
• Experience implementing AI-supported development tools at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy and roadmap for BILL's AI‑augmented developer platform across developer tooling and service platform.
• Drive company‑wide change to standardize engineering practices and security guardrails.
• Lead and develop engineers and engineering managers to restore stability and direction after org changes.
• Scale the developer experience by embedding coding assistants and automating routine migrations.
• Own the local development environments strategy to enable fast feedback and reliable multi‑service workflows.
• Represent the platform org in executive conversations and align with CTO on strategy.
