Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Director, Portfolio Program Management to lead complex programs in Aesthetics Medicine, partnering with the Asset Strategy Leader and team to shape strategy and drive delivery for medical devices and new indications.

You will oversee cross-functional execution, align project plans with asset goals, and mentor team members in a dynamic, global environment, enabling timely milestones and impactful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of experience in medical device R&D and/or pharmaceutical R&D.
• At least 5 years of direct project management experience in drug/device or product development projects.
• Strong knowledge of global device development, product registration, and launch processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and meeting facilitation skills.
• Proficiency with enterprise-level project and portfolio management tools.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
• PMP certification
• Experience mentoring or coaching team members
• Familiarity with governance boards and portfolio-level decision making

Responsibilities

• Define asset strategy and execution plans with the Asset Strategy Leader and delivery team.
• Lead the operational execution of the asset portfolio across products, indications, and projects.
• Drive collaboration and alignment across the asset and deliverable teams.
• Develop, monitor, and manage cross-functional project plans to align with asset strategy.
• Guide teams through key decision points, governance reviews, and stage-gate approvals.
• Identify, assess, and resolve project risks and issues.
• Support timely execution of portfolio milestones, timelines, and budgets.
• Facilitate cross-functional team meetings with agendas and action items.
• Communicate portfolio status, risks, and decisions to leadership.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives, reporting.
• Mentor junior team members and strengthen capability.
• May provide oversight for TASC meetings.
