Overview

As part of the Americas Commercial Marketing team, the Director, Market Development - Pharmaceuticals will be responsible for leading a small team in developing and executing a marketing plan that supports the business objectives within the Americas, covering instrumentation, software, consumables, and services across Small Molecule and Large Molecule/Biotech markets. The individual will understand customer requirements, market dynamics, and regulatory influences to develop strategies that generate pipeline revenue.

Responsibilities
  • Tactical Plan Design and Execution: Lead the development and implementation of a marketing plan aligned with corporate strategy to achieve pharmaceutical revenue goals in the Americas. Focus on promoting Waters solutions through various channels including marketing communications, digital campaigns, seminars, user meetings, customer visits, scientific meetings, and tradeshows.
  • Demand Generation: Develop and execute marketing activities to generate and nurture leads via events, digital marketing, targeted social media advertising, and partner collaborations to optimize pipeline fill and acceleration.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee marketing performance through KPIs like MQLs, conversion rates, funnel creation, campaign success, and sales orders.
  • Customer Advocacy: Act as an advocate for internal and external customers, ensuring training, products, services, and business requirements are met. Collaborate across departments to build consensus and influence change to meet regional needs.
  • Team Development: Train and develop the local Pharmaceutical Marketing team to achieve their objectives within the larger Americas team.
  • Industry SME/Champion: Establish expertise in the pharmaceutical industry within the Americas, working with sales, product, service, and global teams to support efforts engaging pharmaceutical customers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in scientific, engineering, or marketing discipline
  • 10+ years in marketing and business development, preferably with Waters or similar instrumentation/software/services supporting the pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business plans and lead independently
  • Leadership experience with talent development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: effective communication, execution, innovation, customer focus, collaboration, creative problem-solving
  • Ability to build effective relationships across departments
  • Self-motivated with adaptability to changing demands

The base pay ranges from $173,500 to $231,500 annually, depending on market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
