Whitney Museum of American Art seeks a Director of Facilities and Engineering to lead the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of its physical facilities and critical building infrastructure in New York. You will manage engineering teams, plan capital projects, and ensure uptime of HVAC, electrical, and life-safety systems across the museum portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; 7–10+ years in facilities.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, and capital planning.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing contractors.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for facilities and engineering for safe, reliable operation.
• Direct engineering operations, maintenance, and repairs with focus on reliability and service quality.
• Lead, develop, and evaluate facilities and engineering staff and establish standards.
• Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety, and building automation systems.
• Lead root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and risk.
• Coordinate with Curatorial, Exhibitions, Security, Visitor Experience, IT and others on engineering needs.
• Oversee vendor and contractor management, service quality, and safety practices.
• Use data from CMMS/BMS to monitor conditions and inform capital planning.
