Job summary

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager to join the facilities management team. You will oversee operation, repair, and maintenance of the museum’s mechanical and electrical plant, including supervision of union maintenance staff and labor issues.

Responsibilities include coordinating HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water treatment, and building management systems, supporting capital projects, and ensuring high standards of reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field; equivalent in additional work experience considered in lieu of degree.
• At least five years in facilities management, repair, maintenance and operation of similar buildings required.
• Knowledge of water treatment systems and vertical transportation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair the physical plant (chiller, HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Supervise union maintenance personnel and coordinate with capital projects.
• Monitor and manage Building Management System (BMS) and other critical systems.
• Support sustainability initiatives and energy conservation measures.
