Job summary

Shift Paradigm in New York, NY is seeking a Director of Email Development &QA to lead a 10–15 person team of developers and QA specialists delivering pixel-perfect campaigns for Fortune 100 clients.

You will own the production ecosystem, drive efficiency and automation, and lead AI-enabled workflows. This role reports to the SVP, Managing Director and involves pre-sale scoping and strategic technology decisions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in email engineering; 4+ years leading teams in an agency/consulting environment.
• Expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Journey Optimizer, and rendering tools like Litmus or Email on Acid.
• Proven ability to scope custom development, contribute to Statements of Work (SOWs), and manage stakeholder expectations regarding timelines and complexity.
• Expert communicator capable of leading technical discussions with all audiences, from developers to C-Suite executives.
• Strong operational understanding of email accessibility requirements and best practices.
• Broad fluency across email development, front-end development, back-end systems, API design, systems integration, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Experience evaluating, piloting, or implementing AI-native development practices within a team or organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10-15 developers and QA specialists delivering pixel-perfect campaigns.
• Own the production ecosystem—drive efficiency, automation, and 100% SLA compliance.
• Architect and optimize end-to-end development pipeline for profitability.
• Oversee governance and scalability of modular email design systems and templates.
• Connect data requirements to technical solutions and oversee personalization logic, APIs, and platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and escalation support on complex deliverables.
• Maintain visibility across engagements to identify risk and keep delivery on track.
