Job summary

Reworld Waste is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead the Electrical Design Engineering team across North America. This role oversees electrical design for HV (26 kV–230 kV), MV (5 kV–13.8 kV), and LV systems, including breakers, transformers, MCCs, switchgear, and protections.

Travel about 30% to collaborate with site/regional teams. The role reports to the VP of Engineering and drives capital projects, feasibility studies, and risk assessments while guiding talent development

Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering/Science (Electrical Engineering) from an accredited institution.
15–20 years of experience in an electrical engineering role, including at least five years of leadership experience.
Experience with MV and HV systems (switchgear, MCCs, transformers).
Demonstrated experience managing technical teams across the project lifecycle.
Technical due diligence experience for equipment sourcing from Low-cost countries (e.g. Asia) will be a plus.

Responsibilities

Discipline/Design Engineering: Manage, prioritize, and assign work across the Electrical Engineering team and SMEs.
Capital Projects: Lead electrical infrastructure design engineering for capital projects.
Technical Programs: Lead technical programs of strategic importance to the company.
Technical Standards: Develop, maintain, and improve electrical specifications/design standards library.
Operations Support: Provide engineering support to operations and upgrades.
External Engineering Partners: Manage outside engineering firms to deliver sound designs.
