Job summary

Lennar in Irving, Texas seeks a Director, Assistant General Counsel – Data Privacy to lead the privacy program across technology and commercial transactions. You will partner with business leaders to shape initiatives, translate privacy requirements into actionable guidance, and manage risk while enabling growth.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of privacy and transactional experience, strong leadership, and the ability to mentor junior lawyers.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S.
• 8-12 years of legal experience with data privacy and complex transactions.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal and state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA) and familiarity with GDPR.
• Experience building or scaling a data privacy program and advising stakeholders.
• Privacy certifications (CIPP/US, CIPM) preferred.
• Experience advising senior leadership on complex legal, regulatory, and risk matters.
• Leadership experience, including mentoring or supervising junior lawyers.
• Experience negotiating vendor, SaaS, and data processing agreements at volume.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lennar's data privacy function, maintaining the privacy program and overseeing delivery of legal services.
• Provide practical privacy and commercial legal guidance on data collection, use, sharing, retention, and cross‑border transfers.
• Draft and negotiate data processing agreements, vendor and technology agreements, and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support AI governance efforts and privacy/regulatory initiatives with cross-functional partners.
• Manage matter-level financials, including outside counsel spend and budget tracking.
• Develop privacy function standards, processes, and playbooks for notices, templates, and procedures.
• Mentor attorneys and scale the privacy team as it grows.
• Partner with business leaders to balance legal risk with growth objectives.
