Job summary

Lennar, a Fortune 500 homebuilder, seeks a Director, Assistant General Counsel – Data Privacy to lead the privacy function and provide strategic legal guidance across technology and commercial transactions. You will translate complex privacy requirements into actionable business decisions and collaborate with senior leaders to manage risk and enable growth.

The role emphasizes building a robust data privacy program, cross-functional leadership, and influencing enterprise policy.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. license to practice.
• 8–12 years of legal experience with data privacy and complex tech transactions.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal/state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA) and familiarity with GDPR.
• Experience building or growing a data privacy program and advising stakeholders directly.
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US or CIPM preferred.
• Experience advising executive leadership on complex regulatory and risk matters.
• Leadership experience including mentoring and managing outside counsel.
• Experience negotiating vendor, SaaS, and data processing agreements at volume.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lennar's data privacy function and manage the privacy program roadmap.
• Provide practical privacy and commercial legal guidance on data collection, use, sharing, retention, and cross-border transfers.
• Draft and negotiate data processing agreements, vendor and technology contracts, and data-sharing arrangements.
• Support AI governance efforts and cross-functional regulatory initiatives.
• Oversee matter-level budgets and outside counsel spend.
• Develop privacy standards, templates, incident-response and DSR procedures.
• Mentor privacy attorneys and scale the team as needed.
• Partner with business leaders to balance legal risk with growth.
