Job summary

Lennar seeks a Director, Assistant General Counsel – Data Privacy to lead the privacy program, provide strategic legal counsel on data collection, use, sharing, retention, and cross-border transfers, and manage complex agreements and regulatory obligations. The role partners with senior leaders to balance risk and growth.

Ideal candidate has a J.D., 8–12 years of data privacy experience, and knowledge of CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and AI governance frameworks.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S.
• 8-12 years of legal experience with data privacy matters.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal and state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA) and familiarity with GDPR.
• Privacy certification (CIPP/US, CIPM or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience advising executive leadership on complex legal, regulatory, and risk matters.
• Strong leadership; ability to mentor junior attorneys; manage outside counsel.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF) and using tech tools to enhance operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lennar's data privacy function and ensure timely, high-quality privacy and commercial legal advice.
• Negotiate data processing, vendor, data-sharing, and technology agreements; manage risk and regulatory obligations.
• Contribute to AI governance efforts and coordinate with senior legal leadership and stakeholders.
• Oversee budgets, outside counsel spend, and cost-conscious decision making.
• Develop privacy standards, notices, templates, incident-response, and DSAR procedures; document policies.
