Job summary

Walmart's Transportation Engineering team seeks a Director of Automation Engineering - Autonomous Transportation to define and lead the company's autonomous transportation strategy across the network. You will translate industry developments into actionable investment strategies, build business cases, and scale pilots with internal and external partners.

This role leads a high-performing team, negotiates vendor agreements, and guides cross-functional stakeholders to implement enterprise-scale

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5 years' experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
• 7 years' experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
• 3 years' supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead Walmart's enterprise autonomous transportation strategy and roadmap.
• Advise senior leaders on autonomous technology, industry trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing engineering team.
• Identify use cases, build business cases, and prioritize investments.
• Evaluate technologies and select strategic partners and vendors.
• Develop commercial models and negotiate agreements with internal and external partners.
• Lead autonomous programs from concept and pilot through scaled deployment.
• Establish performance metrics and use data to drive decisions.
• Build alignment across Transportation, Operations, Product, Safety, Legal, and other stakeholders.
