Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an experienced Alternative Delivery Director within the Transportation Business Group. You will lead cross‑functional teams to deliver complex mobility projects, driving policy and contract negotiations, and coordinating with regional leads to align pursuits with HDR’s strategic goals.

You will influence leadership on market trends, manage client relationships, and help HDR maintain its employee‑owned culture while expanding capabilities across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in related field.
• Professional Engineer registration and/or license.
• Experience leading large civil infrastructure projects in transportation.
• Strong client relationship management and pursuit skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• Understanding of HDR’s matrix organization and values.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Project Delivery Program Director for pursuit and delivery of Alternative Delivery projects.
• Drive approvals in compliance with HDR policies and risk committee.
• Collaborate with other HDR leaders on policy, resources, and contracts.
• Negotiate contract terms with HDR Legal with Risk input.
• Coordinate with Transportation Leadership and regional leads on upcoming projects and relationships.
• Lead reviews of contractor relationships and terms to ensure matrix collaboration.
• Advise leadership on trends in the Alternative Delivery market.
• Foster industry relationships to elevate HDR’s visibility.
• Support continual methods improvements and best practices.
• Possibly serve as Principal‑in‑Charge for selected projects.
