Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance's US Data Science group seeks a Director-level data science leader to build and lead a new team that applies advanced AI to accelerate pricing program delivery. The role blends hands-on model work with strategic leadership, focusing on evaluating AI and agentic systems for high-value insurance pricing use cases.

You will mentor senior scientists, define the evaluation strategy, and partner with pricing, data science, and technology teams to scale production-ready AI

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and deploying insurance pricing models and pricing lifecycles.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.
• Exceptional stakeholder management with cross-functional influence.
• Deep expertise in model evaluation, statistics, and experimental design.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern LLMs and agentic AI.
• Experience evaluating generative AI or agentic systems preferred.
• Proficiency in prototyping evaluation tooling (e.g., Python).
• Advanced degree with 5–7 years (or Bachelor with 10 years) in insurance, actuarial, data science, or tech.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of senior data scientists across business lines.
• Set strategy and roadmap for AI-enabled pricing program rollout.
• Lead design of AI and agentic evaluations with robust metrics.
• Measure AI value and guide scale decisions for high-value use cases.
• Partner with data science, technology, and pricing teams to bring evaluations into production.
• Evaluate AI vendors and third-party solutions with data-driven assessments.
