Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to lead the Generative AI Training platform, overseeing distributed training, fine‑tuning, reinforcement learning workflows, and governance to scale AI across the enterprise.

You will mentor and grow engineering teams, shape the long‑term AI platform strategy, ensure responsible AI standards, and collaborate with research, compliance and risk functions to deliver reliable, cost‑efficient GPU infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in CS/AI/EE/CE with relevant AI/ML experience.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience in engineering teams.
• Experience building and operating large-scale ML/GPU training infra on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee distributed training, fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning workflows.
• Lead design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of core AI platform systems.
• Make buy/build decisions across OSS and SaaS AI technologies.
• Drive GPU capacity planning and cost governance across teams.
