Job summary

Oscar Health is seeking a Director of Actuarial to lead pricing across multiple states and mentor a team of actuaries. The role reports to the VP of Actuarial and blends strategic leadership with deep actuarial expertise.

The position is fully remote for candidates in the U.S. with travel for team meetings and events. Competitive base pay and benefits, plus equity grants and bonuses, are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or 4 years commensurate experience.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), or on the track to become one.
• 10+ years of actuarial and/or quantitative analysis experience.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong understanding of health insurance concepts and nuances.
• Prior experience leading teams of healthcare actuaries.

Responsibilities

• Own decision-making responsibilities related to actuarial methodologies, model enhancements, and business initiatives.
• Oversee the end-to-end actuarial pricing processes within a specific portfolio.
• Promote long‑term goals and objectives for the actuarial function.
• Mentor, coach, and develop actuarial team members with regular feedback.
• Provide an actuarial viewpoint in cross-functional discussions to drive business objectives.
