Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina and Rhode Island seeks a Developmental Specialist to support individuals in achieving personal dreams and goals. You will assess hopes, help build community relationships, and promote self-determination through person-centered supports.

Responsibilities include advocating for rights, meeting emotional and medical needs, documenting progress, and assisting with daily living tasks and transportation as required. Sleepovers may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person for hopes, dreams, and desires; provide supports to facilitate achievement.
• Support people in developing community relationships and with their natural supports.
• Assist people in participating fully in their community according to their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of each person; assist with advocacy and personal advocates.
• Provide support to meet emotional, physical, and medical needs of each person.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships that promote self-determination.
• Provide input into assessment and planning processes and plan development.
• Implement plans fully and document required information.
• Complete daily progress notes and communication logs to ensure goals are met.
• Assist with day-to-day home operations: housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, etc.
• Drive and travel as required; arrange or provide transportation as needed.
• Assist with emergency procedures and safety; conduct drills and safety checks.
• Assist staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.
• Sleepover at residential settings may be required.
• Attend meetings and trainings; maintain required certifications.
• Follow agency policies and state/federal regulations related to programs.
