Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina seeks a Developmental Specialist Vocational to build positive relationships with individuals and help achieve personal goals per individual plans.

Responsibilities include assessing hopes and dreams, advocating for rights, coordinating with community services, supervising in work settings, and ensuring safety and documentation accuracy. Sleepovers and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma (Required).
• Experience with adults with mental health diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person for hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports to help achieve them.
• Ensure rights of persons served are protected and promoted; support advocacy efforts.
• Serve as a resource for services and supports meeting identified needs or goals.
• Supervise, educate, and monitor people in work settings (community, workshops, day supports).
• Maintain a safe working environment by following safety procedures.
• Educate people on required procedures, rules, policies, and rights.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships and promote self-determination.
• Provide input into assessment, planning, and individual plan development.
• Implement plans fully and document goals, actions, incidents, timesheets, etc.
• Complete daily progress notes and logs to track appointments and goals.
• Maintain necessary records and attendance sheets.
• Substitute in-house or in the community as needed.
• Assist new staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.
• Sleepover at a residential setting may be required.
• Attend meetings and training; maintain required certifications.
• Follow agency policies, state and federal regulations related to program areas.
• Follow service definition guidelines for services provided.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Driving and travel may be required.
