Job summary

WellLife Network is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help New Yorkers with developmental disabilities thrive in home and community settings. You will provide care, advocacy, and support for independence, working closely with individuals and families to promote inclusion and empowerment.

The role covers personal care, daily living support, health and wellness, mobility, behavior support, community engagement, and documentation, with a strong emphasis on compassionate, person-centered care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• Fluent in English for client communication.
• A valid New York State Driver’s License with at least 2 years of driving experience (required for driving positions).
• Comfort operating a large vehicle (for driving positions).
• Experience supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on care, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals supported.
• Assist with daily living activities and build community connections.
• Support with activities of daily living, meal prep, and safe home environment.
• Administer medications as directed and help with medical appointments.
• Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids to ensure safe navigation.
• Implement strategies to support behaviors in a respectful manner.
• Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities.
• Assist with communication tools or techniques and advocate for needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and maintain accurate records in electronic systems.
