Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is hiring Direct Support Professional II (DSP II) for Richmond State Supported Living Center. The DSP II supports people with intellectual disabilities across morning, evening, and night shifts and may receive additional pay for evenings, nights, weekends, or working at maximum security locations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak and read English.
• Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in critical incidents.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and body mechanics.
• Knowledge of care techniques and behavior programs.
• Ability to administer first aid and CPR when needed.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Attend scheduled shifts (morning, evening, night) at multiple homes.
• Provide direct care and support services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Assist with grooming, bathing, feeding, and daily activities.
• Observe and document changes in health status or behavior.
• Contribute to individualized treatment plans and training programs.
• May mentor new staff or volunteers and lead shifts as needed.
• Transport individuals or operate a state-owned vehicle when required.
