Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) Brenham State Supported Living Center is seeking a Direct Support Professional II. This role supports individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in multiple homes, delivering daily living assistance, personal care, and structured activities on morning, evening, and night shifts.

The DSP II collaborates with a team, documents care, and may lead or mentor peers.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required.
• Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in critical incidents.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
• Knowledge of proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
• Experience with individual care techniques and treatment programs.
• CPR/First Aid knowledge or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities and personal care.
• Document observations and report changes in health or behavior.
• Transport individuals to activities and appointments as needed.
• Implement and support treatment plans and behavior programs.
• Provide mentorship to new staff and assist with shift leadership.
