Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is seeking a Direct Support Professional II to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the El Paso State Supported Living Center. This role covers morning, evening, and night shifts across multiple homes and may include weekend work.

Responsibilities include direct care, training, documentation, and emergency support. Eligible staff may receive additional pay for evening/night/weekend work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: experience in writing reports.
• CPR/First Aid/SUR/Ukeru certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be assigned specific/rotating shifts.
• Implements habilitation and training programs for individuals.
• Teaches life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Participates in development of the individual’s treatment plan.
• Observes health changes and documents observations and responses.
• Reports significant changes in condition or behavior and records information.
• Assists in transporting individuals to activities and emergencies as needed.
• Administers first aid and CPR as appropriate.
• Attend to healthcare needs under supervision of medical staff.
• Evacuates individuals during emergencies or drills.
• May provide supervision to DSP Is or volunteers as shift/team lead.
