Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges. You will support daily activities, meals, and transportation, while adhering to care plans and safety standards.

No experience is required as we provide comprehensive training and ongoing development; a valid driver’s license is needed to support residents across sites.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with individuals who have mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
• Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in healthcare, social services, or related field.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious disease.

Responsibilities

• Provide Support & Care: Encourage and guide individuals to meet their goals per person-centered and behavior plans.
• Foster a Safe Environment: Create a trust-filled space upholding rights.
• Meal Prep & Housekeeping: Cook meals per dietary needs; assist with laundry and cleaning.
• Transportation & Advocacy: Transport to appointments; advocate and assist with documentation.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed and ensure correct dosage.
• 24/7 Availability: Remain awake and accessible in round-the-clock care homes.
• Supervise Daily Activities: Support personal care, life skills, and social activities.
